Nid Cosy Bordeaux - Rue Nicot

A little bit of history… In the 16th century, French diplomat Jean Nicot sent his 'Nicot herb' to Queen Catherine de Medicis to relieve her migraines. Botanists called this plant 'nicotiana', and this is how Jean Nicot gave his name to the active substance in tobacco: NICOT ine.

It is therefore not surprising that many tobacco factories in France are located on a street called Rue Nicot. Bordeaux is no exception, and it was on rue Nicot that I moved when I arrived in this southwestern city.

It was this same name, Nicot, which inspired me, a few years ago, to name my Guest Houses. Imagined as cosy "nids" ( "nests"), both welcoming and so "cosy"...the NId COsy was born!
